Why Hijab Does MMA
HostYou've been doing a lot of things lately, from an actor, producer, and now MMA fighter. What's going on here, man?
Mohammed HijabMMA has always been part of my life. I like acting, but acting was just a thing I dipped my feet in, right? Whereas martial arts is something I've been doing for the last like 10, 15 years. And I've competed many, many, many times in grappling competitions. You know, I've been doing BJJ, I've been doing wrestling for a long time and stuff like that. So, it was a natural progression. I wanted to do professional rules. You know, I went in, I've done professional rules. I'm 2 and 0 now. They actually ranked me number seven in the UK, which is good.
HostShows you the low level of...
Mohammed HijabYou know what it is, what it is. I'm a big believer in this. Like, Immanuel Kant said something interesting. Yeah. Immanuel Kant said that one of the major problems that you can do in your life is to have an unexplored potential, because if everyone had an unexplored potential, the world would not develop. It's a very powerful thing, and the Prophet saw it in a better way. He said that, "Make use of five things before five things come." And one of them is your youth before your old age. Now, I'm 34 years old now. I've had two fights in one year, alhamdulillah. Both won, both by TKO. So, 100% knockout ratio.
Mohammed HijabWhich is good, alhamdulillah. You know, one was with a boxer, one was with a BJJ black belt, and he's actually an MMA coach. So, these are two formidable opponents. The odds were against me on both occasions, actually, you know? And I was happy to have tested myself like that with heavyweights. It could just be one second, it's all it takes, is one punch. Most dangerous division, it's the most dangerous. I wanted to test myself in that division. I wanted to do that thing because of the emotions that you feel before the fight, you feel during the fight, the emotions that you feel after the fight, the preparation, the discipline that you require for the training camp. All of that for me is attractive, is appealing to me because it's pushing my body to another limit, it's taking myself out of the comfort zone, it's trying something new. I've done it a lot in terms of education. So, I wanted to try it physically a lot.
